How to Fight the Urge to Spend Money

We all get that sudden itch to spend money right after pay day, and if you’re like me, random things you need to purchase pop in your head 100 times a day.

When you get the spending itch, here’s a list of 5 things you can do instead.

  1. Count your blessings

It’s important to remain thankful for everything you have and that puts your mind at ease when you feel like you need more.

2. Read

Usually when you get that urge to spend, you’re bored. One of the best ways to occupy your mind is to dive into a great book.

3. Clean your closet

Instead of thinking about what you need, figure out what you need less of. Clean out your closet and donate to your local charity. Plus, it’s a write off.

4. Listen to Ted Talks

This is just another powerful way to occupy your mind in a productive way. I listen to all kinds of ted talks to learn and consider other ways of thinking. Try it out.

5. Meal Prep

When you feel that urge to online shop, that’s a great time to meal prep for the week. Save money and time during the week.
